

Divas on the Delaware, an opera training program for singers, age 16 and above, emphasizes performance opportunities and also integrates classes in vocal techniques and interpretation, drama, stage movement and choreography, and production techniques. Participants will take part in the 2008 Delaware Valley Opera summer season, performing in principal or secondary roles (for very advanced singers), a special staged production of opera scenes and ensembles, in the DVO Choral Ensemble or as technical and production assistants. Mainstage productions for 2008 are Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Donizetti’s Don Pasquale.
Classes, most rehearsals and some performances are at the Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, NY. Other performances are in the Tusten Theatre in Narrowsburg, NY, the Ritz Theater in Hawley, PA and other locations.
Partial or full scholarships will be offered to outstanding participants.
Can be scheduled live in New York City and Narrowsburg, NY, or by high quality cd, tape or online recording. Two contrasting arias, resume and application are requested.
College Credit can be arranged through the Sullivan Co. Community College at a modest additional fee, per 3-hour or 6-hour course credit.
Training Program Participants are invited to attend the Summer Cultural Series performances in Seelig Theatre at SCCC free of charge.
